Day One
Arrival into Greymouth and make your own way to your accommodation. If you have time to explore around the local area, I would recommend heading up to Punakaiki and experience one of the best coastal drives in the world – “The Coast Road”

Day Two
Enjoy a hearty cooked breakfast at Buccleugh’s Restaurant (directly across the road from your accommodation.) Collect your bikes and start your journey on the Wilderness Trail from Greymouth to Kumara. This first day is an easy, mainly flat ride packed with history and gorgeous West Coast scenery. Cycle the flood wall beside the Grey River before turning to travel alongside the Tasman Sea. Cross the mighty Taramakau River then cross onto the historic bush tramway before arriving in the former gold mining town of Kumara.

Day Three
Enjoy a yummy continental breakfast before beginning your journey to Milltown. Even though this is the most challenging section of the trail, the scenery is to die for! From Kumara you will have a gradual climb to Kawhaka Pass cycling through pristine native forests, former gold fields and alongside water races before arriving in the Arahura Valley where you will be collected by our team and transported to your comfortable, centrally located Hokitika accommodation. Enjoy local hospitality and allow time to spend wandering around this beachside town.

Day Four
You will be collected and transported back up to the Arahura Valley before enjoying a relaxed ride through a mountain ringed valley, surrounded by native bush. The highlight of todays ride will be Lake Kaniere, which many people say is the most beautiful lake in New Zealand. Your second night will be spent in Hokitika where you may be lucky enough to experience an amazing West Coast Sunset.

Day Five
Leave Hokitika along the coast before heading inland to Lake Mahinapua. Cross historic railway bridges with the glorious Southern Alps a constant backdrop. Arrive in the former gold mining town of Ross to complete your West Coast Wilderness Trail adventure. Your Trail Transport team will then collect you for your journey back to Greymouth.
